How do I remove rust stains on plastic laminate countertop?

by admin on August 27, 2010

I was thinking CLR, but the directions say specifically no to plastic. I don’t know if I can water it down or just stay away from it. The only other thing there was a heavy duty rust remover which didn’t say no to plastic, but was recommended for vehicles, metal and other outdoor uses, so I’m nervous about using it.
Does anyone have any other ideas? CLR was my best bet.
Thanks!

Have you ever used the Magic Erasers? They work really well and may remove the stain. They are cheap so you will not be out of much money if it does not work. I would try that.

I have had a rust stain on mine before, I used good old Comet cleanser. Just wet the counter a little with water then sprinkle comet on the rust areas. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then, use a scrubbing sponge to scrub at the stains. Afterwords, make sure to go back over it with clean water.

Clorox bleach pens work great for removing rust. You may have to apply a few times but the rust will definitely come out.
