help with Rust removers?

by admin on July 10, 2010

I need rust remover for a fuse box, anyone know where I can get one that will take the rust away without no or little scrubbing? And yes I will take out the fuse holders out to clean them.
you think i can use CLR?

this is how the fuse box looks like:

The problem being that the rust will come back unless you kill it with something like Osfo. Osfo is an acid treatment which chemically changes rust to an inert state. However the surface then needs to be painted to prevent it from rusting in the future and paint is not what you want in a fuse box as it acts as an insulator. Better off to obtain a replacement.

There is a paint called POR-15 it costs about $30 for a pint, and it neutralizes rust by a chemical reaction. In addition, it is very thick and makes a good strong coat that is very hard to chip.
