I hear Kreeme is good but it flakes off if not done right. What other rust removers/tank liners are there?
Removing rust from a gas tank can be accomplished in a number of ways. Different strategies include using abrasives such as gravel or washers, using acids such as muriatic acid or vinegar, using a battery and washing soda, using a tank coating kit, or using a combination of the aforementioned strategies. All of them work fairly well.

Its cheap, and you can get it at a hardware or pool supply store.

A half gallon of clean, washed & dryed 1/4" rough cut chat (gravel) and about an hour of jerking around as if you are having an epilectic fit….. best solution I’ve ever found.

There is something called Redcoat. The radiator shops seem to all have this, it coats the inside with a durable coat. I don’t like the Kreeme kits. If not done 100% right, they flake off after a few years, allowing the rust and kreeme bits into the fuel system.
You can shake ball bearings in there if you have the time. I used to take clients fuel tanks to the Rad shop, as i know it would be done right and proper.

I’ve used a product called RUSTOL with excellent results. It’s water soluble, comes in a quart bottle that you mix with tap water. You can use a stronger concentration, or use it diluted. It IS REUSABLE! Good for approx 5 tanks depending on severity. Sold by SUDCO. I found it at one of my local shops, for about $50. After cleaning, you may want to coat the bare metal with a sealer, but that’s another question for the forum. Justin (the "H" is silent) Ainhuis p.s. if you spill it on paint…. nothing happens!!
